Gas Installations
The Gas (Safety & Measurement) Regulations 2010 require that all newly constructed gas installations and those that have extensions, additions, replacement, alterations or repair carried out must be certified.
The certification process typically involves a combination of design verification, inspection and testing of the whole or part installation, with a Certificate of Compliance and Gas Safety Certificate issued at the completion of the work.
Certification is carried out in accordance with the Regulations and the joint Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 5601 – Gas Installations. Part 1 of this Standard (AS/NZS 5601.1) covers General Installations, and part 2 (AS/NZS 5601.2) covers LP gas installations in caravans and boats for non-propulsive purposes.
Existing gas installations can also be verified for safety in accordance with New Zealand Standard NZS 5255 – Safety Verification of existing gas installations.
